University of Hyderabad Eligibility Criteria
For admission to the University of Hyderabad postgraduate degree courses, candidates must possess a three-year undergraduate degree from a recognised university/autonomous college. Candidates who have passed a two-year degree course are eligible for University of Hyderabad admission, provided they have completed a one-year bridge course. The eligibility of candidates passing their qualifying examinations from universities following the letter grading system / CGPA will be determined based on the percentage calculated as per the conversion formula adopted by the concerned university. If there is no such formula, the decision of the University of Hyderabad shall be final and binding on the candidates.
University of Hyderabad Reservation of Seats
- As per the Government of India and the University Grants Commission guidelines, the University of Hyderabad has reserved 15% of seats for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes and 7.5% for those belonging to the scheduled tribes.
- Candidates should submit a copy of the certificate of their caste/ tribe from a revenue officer not below the rank of Tahsildar / Mandal Revenue Officer at the time of the interview, admission/counselling. Remedial courses in English and other subjects are conducted for such students depending upon the actual need.
- For admission to all postgraduate courses, namely, M.A, M.Sc, MCA, MFA, MPA, MBA, M.Ed courses and 5-year integrated master’s degree courses, the minimum eligibility percentage required for SC/ST/PH candidates is 5% less than the percentage for general/EWS & OBC category.
- Reservation of seats for OBC candidates: 27% of the seats are reserved for OBC (non-creamy layer category) candidates. Candidates claiming reservation under this category must submit an attested copy of the OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate issued by a competent authority in the format prescribed by the Government of India.
- Reservation of seats for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates: 10% of the seats are reserved for EWS candidates. Candidates claiming reservation under this category must submit an attested copy of the OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate issued by a competent authority in the format prescribed by the Government of India.
- Reservation of seats to the wards/dependents of Defence Personnel (DP): 5% of seats on approved intake in each for all 5-Year Integrated PG and PG courses are provided as supernumerary seats. The candidates should enclose a copy of the certificate issued by a competent authority in support of their claim.
University of Hyderabad Admission Process
- To start with the University of Hyderabad admission process, candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria.
- Candidates also need to apply, appear, and qualify for the entrance exam set against the course selected by candidates. If the entrance exam is conducted by the University of Hyderabad itself, candidates need to fill up the University of Hyderabad application form and then appear for the entrance test.
- To start with the University of Hyderabad admission process, candidates need to register themselves with an email id and phone number. After registration, candidates will be directed to the application page where they need to fill it in with all the necessary details like courses, entrance exam appeared, personal details, etc, and pay the registration fee.
- After the declaration of the entrance results, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the following criteria like research proposal and its defence, academic record/performance in PG/gold medal/performance in the written test, having fellowship/M.Phil./NET/SET, publications, research experience, etc. For a few courses like M.Tech, MCA, MBA, etc, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of cut-off list..
- In case there is a tie, where candidates secure the same marks in the written test, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of three criteria:
First criterion: Marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree/other examination.
Second criterion: Marks obtained in the degree examination immediately preceding the qualifying degree examination.
- The University of Hyderabad has decided not to have any cut-off marks in the entrance examination for admission to any postgraduate course for any category during the year 2022-24. Admission will be based on the ratio recommended by the Admission Committee, of the approved intake for the postgraduate courses.
- The final list of shortlisted candidates will be released based on the scores secured by the candidates in the entrance examination, group discussion, and interview rounds.
- The candidates whose name was on the shortlisted candidates need to visit the University of Hyderabad for document verification and payment of admission dues.
University of Hyderabad Application Fees
- Candidates need to first visit the University of Hyderabad's official website.
- Candidates then need to click on the University of Hyderabad online application form link.
- After clicking on the link, a new screen will appear in which candidates are required to fill in details.
- Candidates have to fill in details like mobile number, email id, scanned recent passport size photo, signature, and caste certificate (OBC/ EWS/ SC/ St) if applying under the caste category.
- Next, candidates need to choose the course for which they are applying.
- Next candidates need to select the exam centre if they are appearing for entrance tests conducted by the University of Hyderabad. Candidates can choose a maximum of three exam centres.
- Once all the details are filled in correctly, candidates can now click on submit button.
- Screen 1 is now submitted, and candidates will be redirected to screen 2.
- In Screen 2, candidates must provide information about national-level tests like JEE mains, NIMCET, UGC JRF, and UGC NET as per the course they have applied for.
- Once all the details are filled correctly, candidates have to now save the page and move forward to screen 3.
- On-screen 3, candidates must fill in the family and residential details.
- Candidates then need to save screen 3 and move to screen 4.
- On-screen 4, candidates must fill in 10+2, graduation, and post-graduation details.
- Similarly, candidates need to fill in all the remaining details as asked.
- Candidates must double-check all the information before submitting UoH the application form.
- Candidates need to then click on the ‘Submit and Save’ button.
- Candidates will be then directed to the payment page, where they need to pay the University of Hyderabad application fee.
- Candidates can pay the application fees online.
