    NEC Merit Scholarship for Students of NER 2021-22 is an initiative for students pursuing a diploma/degree/postgraduate/M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes. The scholarship aims at providing financial aid to students of the North-Eastern Region undergoing studies in various disciplines at a recognized Indian institution. The students will receive a stipend of up to INR 30,000 per annum.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must –

  • Be a permanent resident of any of the North-Eastern states (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura)
  • Get admission in diploma, degree, postgraduate, MPhil, or Ph.D. programme
  • Have an annual family income of less than INR 8 lakh from all sources
  • Have passed HSLC/HSSLC/Secondary School Leaving /Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate examination from a recognized State/Central Board with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (For Diploma courses)
  • Have passed HSSLC/Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate examination from a recognized State/Central Board with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (For Degree courses)
  • Have passed a degree level examination in any discipline (B.A./B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.B.B.S./LLB/BCA/BBA etc.) of any recognized Institute/ University with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (For Postgraduate courses)
  • Hold a PG degree from any recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (For M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes)

    • Benefits

    The selected students will receive stipend under this scheme as per the rates given below –

  • For diploma level course – INR 20,000 per annum
  • For degree level course – INR 22,000 per annum
  • For PG courses – INR 25,000 per annum

    PG Scholarships for Professional Courses for SC/ST 2022-23 is an initiative for candidates pursuing a postgraduate course in professional subjects.The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to the deprived students to pursue postgraduate level studies in professional subject.

    Scholarship Eligibility

  • The candidate must belong to the SC/ST category
  • The candidate must be pursuing the first year of a professional course at the postgraduate level during the current academic year
  • The candidate must be studying in any of the following Institutions/ Colleges/Universities:
  • Universities/Institutions/Colleges included under section 2(f) & and 12(B) of UGC Act
  • Deemed to be Universities included under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and are eligible to receive grants-in-aid from UGC
  • Universities/Institutions/College funded by Central/State Government
  • Institutes of National Importance

    • Note: Courses that need approval from the regulatory bodies such as MCI, DCI, PCI, RCI, NCTIS, NCTE Bar Council of India, AICTE, ICAR, INC, Forensic Regulatory & Development Authority of India, are considered as professional courses.

    Scholarship Benefits

    1000 SC/ST students will be selected for the disbursal of the scholarship. M.E./M.Tech. students selected under this scholarship scheme will receive INR 7,800 per month for the duration of their PG course. Students studying other professional courses will get INR 4,500 per month as the scholarship amount.

    2. PG Scholarship For University Rank Holder

    Post Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders 2021-22 is an opportunity offered to the first and second rank holders of graduation courses across the country. The scholarship aims to encourage talented girls and boys towards postgraduation education and assist them in their expenses.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be below 30 years of age
  • Be studying in a postgraduation course from any affiliated university (central/state) or deemed universities/private universities/25 autonomous colleges/non-affiliated colleges
  • Be a rank holder (Ist or IInd) in the previous graduation exam
  • Have completed graduation in one of the following disciplines: Life Sciences/Physical Sciences/Chemical Sciences/Earth Sciences/Mathematical Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce, or Languages
  • Have scored a minimum of 60% of marks in graduation

    • Benefits

    The scholarship will provide the financial aid of INR 3,100 per month for the duration of two years.

    3. Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child 2022-23

    Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child 2021-22 is an initiative for girl students of up to 30 years of age who happen to be the only girl child in their families. The scholarship aims to promote girl education and compensate for the direct costs of girl education to all levels.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a girl student of up to 30 years of age
  • Be the only child of the family
  • Have taken admission in regular, full-time 1st-year Masters degree program in any designated university or a postgraduate college
    • Note: Girl students having no brother or girls who are twin daughters/fraternal daughter are also eligible.

    Benefits

    A total of 3,000 scholarships will be awarded to girl students from across the country. An amount of INR 36,200 per annum will be provided for a duration of 2 years or the full duration of the postgraduate course

    4. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Minorities

    Benefits–

    The benefits of the Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Minorities cover financial support provided by the government for studies in India in a Government or private institution selected and notified in a transparent manner by the State Government/Union Territory Administration concerned. The scholarship covers technical and professional courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

    The scholarship provided by the government will be for the entire academic year/course. Also, the maintenance allowance will be given as a fixed lump sum amount for an academic year. It is worth noting that the academic year translates to 10 months in a year. Thus, students will receive INR 10,000 (hosteller) and INR 5,000 (day scholar) as maintenance allowance for the academic year. The table below shows the breakdown of the scholarship
